Doreen Jjuuko is the mother of Rickey Bishop. She has been campaigning for justice for her son’s death. Today they gather in Windrush Square, Brixton, as they have done for the last 15 years. A small crowd of supporters gathered around her and Ricky’s sister. They march down Brixton high street, slowing the traffic. The 450m walk to the Brixton police station takes over an hour. A small square in front of the police station. A few seats and a tree. The station where her 25 year old son, father, died in police custody. The small group halts in front of the tree, called the lynching tree by a poetess present. After a minute of silence, a single photo of the young man, a few flowers are strapped to the tree trunk. Doreen raises the megaphone to her mouth, and calls for justice for the nth time.
